In computer vision, object detection is a task aimed at identifying a specific object within an image or video frame. Typically, models solving this task return the following information as output: the object’s class, the coordinates where it is located and the confidence level with which the model identifies the object. For this reason, this task has the dual ability to classify an object as well as identify its position. It is used in various applications such as autonomous driving, video surveillance and image analysis.
